I've been so busy the past couple weeks and so tired at night. Blogging is truly a part time job! I something like 50 posts to catch up on in google reader. Can't wait to get back my apartment where I can get back into my normal routine!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7517116209276101080.post-30739404125455350432009-07-17T15:59:04.703-07:002009-07-17T15:59:04.703-07:00I think that "almost mishap" was a st. p...I think that "almost mishap" was a st. patrick's day race. I've found myself in a couple hairy situations like that where if I had fallen, I would have been trampled.

I don't have a problem with runners wearing headphones, but I think they need to be extra aware of their surroundings considering they are distracting their sense of hearing. Music isn't an excuse to zone out.

Actually, I do have a funny headphone story though. This year during the Cherry Blossom 10-miler I was in the midst of running the course and some guy listening to music comes racing from out of nowhere. He wasn't paying attention and ran smack into the back of a woman who was taller than him. They guy grabbed onto her so he wouldn't fall down. She turned around and gave him a scowl. it was pricelessJamiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11572764534883085973noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7517116209276101080.post-28334404405531463742009-07-17T11:39:48.719-07:002009-07-17T11:39:48.719-07:00sorry if my blog does funky things when commenting...sorry if my blog does funky things when commenting. It happens to me too, so I should look into it!
During my half marathon, there were two ladies doing the run/walk thing, and I was getting so frustrated cause their overall time was fast even though they were walking! I personally don't want to walk unless I'm dying, but I was jealous that they were fast! haha.
I'm still a devoted headphone runner for the time being. Even when I'm running with others, my headphones are in. I loooove listening to music!Juliahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17147492853832515411noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7517116209276101080.post-67051550563177477252009-07-17T11:38:52.748-07:002009-07-17T11:38:52.748-07:00I too started off running with my ipod and didn...I too started off running with my ipod and didn't think much of it until last year when a local runner was murdered less than a mile from my home on a very popular trail. It made me wise up that with headphones on I am not aware of my surroundings. When I did my half in March I started with them on and did most of the run until it started raining and that is what finally did it for me. Listening to everyone struggle through the end of that hellacious Half in the rain made the race feel "real" to me. And that was it for me. I don't run with tunes anymore. I don't think you "get" it until you actually run without... but to each their own.Jen Feenyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12857381064146340597noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7517116209276101080.post-59697259538296596002009-07-17T10:48:09.761-07:002009-07-17T10:48:09.761-07:00i prefer no headphones myself. a lot of non-runnin...i prefer no headphones myself. a lot of non-running friends find that crazy but once you get used to going without you enjoy being more aware of your body and surroundings.

perhaps as a side you can make a cucumber salad?B.o.B.https://www.blogger.com/profile/09778073562721277426noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7517116209276101080.post-13579760440698113962009-07-17T09:49:45.637-07:002009-07-17T09:49:45.637-07:00you can also cold-brew coffee by using a french pr...you can also cold-brew coffee by using a french press!
