So I'm sitting here trying to plan our dinner menu for the short week (hooray mini vacay!) and I've come to realize there are a lot of flavors/ingredients I used to hate and now can't get enough of. Strange, no? Have my tastebuds evolved??
Here's my list (at least what I've come up with so far):
Here's my list (at least what I've come up with so far):
- Cilantro
- Lime
- Thai Basil
- Parsley (all varieties)
- Lamb
- Goat cheese
- Anchovies (though, this isn't fair...I refused to ever try them)
- Mustard (all types)
- Orange zest/any citrus zest
I don't think I was ever a picky eater growing up or in college. I mean, somewhere along the line I developed a bizarre fear of any food that was looking at me - no joke. While at a somewhat fancy dinner in Kuala Lumpur they served me a softshell crab (set menu) with it's face facing me! EEK! I actually got a little queasy and had to turn it the other way when no one was looking! Yes, I'm a weirdo. I like to think I've gotten over that crazy fear, though I'm still not cool with like whole fish. Nuh uh.
Have your tastes changed as you've gotten older? What does your list look like?
