I was really excited about tonight's 6 mile loop downtown - totally needed it after they day I had at work.
Jamie and Susan met me near my office and we started down K Street at a nice, brisk pace (tonight was supposed to be a pace run). That all changed when we got to the Lincoln and I realized there wasn't a crosswalk to be found by the Memorial Bridge. Agh! Totally threw me off! We stood there for a few minutes thinking the traffic would eventually subside, but no. We were forced to go back the other way around the Lincoln. Oops.
We ended up running 6.2 miles at just over 10:30 pace. Not quite what I was aiming for, but it'll do...for now at least. ;p I'm actually glad that I got that done early on in the week. Now I just have a couple three milers to cross off my list!
Another part of my evening plan was to try to join Mel in her No Gum Chewing Challenge. Hi, my name is Karena and I'm addicted to gum. No joke, I can easily go through about 6 pieces in one work day. So so wrong! I also have to chew gum when I run. I have no idea when or how that started, but it can't be a safe habit.
I'm a lost cause - without even thinking, I popped a piece of gum into my mouth before I left the office for tonight's run. Fail numero dos. HA.
I promise, my whole evening wasn't a complete loss! I managed to find out exactly where the American History Museum is located! Yes, I am from DC and run the Mall frequently and did not know where the American History Museum was. Honestly, I don't think I've ever been...I always confuse it with the Museum of Natural History. Whatevs. Looks like it's time for a trip to the museums! I love that they are free :)
We got back to the apartment and I quickly popped my Cheesy Baked Pasta in the oven while I stretched and showered. I took the foil off after 25 minutes and my basil was discolored :(
I guess there's a reason why I always mix it up in the sauce...it's not so pretty on top! Ah well, it tasted good and that's all that matters :)
I'm off to roll with some foam catch some of the No Reservations season premiere before going to bed. Tonight's episode is Chile and I'm excited!! Chile is pretty high up there on my wish list of places to visit...if only the visa and flights weren't so expensive! What are some international destinations on your wish list?

wow your baked pasta dish looks divine!! I love any pasta dishes with cheese :D
aww I loved No Reservations. Such a cute movie :)
i too love no reservations. anthony b. can be an ass sometimes but he has the coolest job in the world.
great job improvising on your run. sometimes it's neccessary.
Pasta looks good -- I make something similar, but haven't thought of making as a casserole.
Whenever I admire Bourdain's job, he always sneaks in something completely inedible and then raves about it. I could never do that or eat some of that.
Seeing your DC pics reminds me of my runs there a long long long time ago.
Cheers!
Have you read Kitchen Confidential? It's amazing - and you definitely see another layer of the Bourdain that you do not see completely on his show :)
The pasta bake looks awesome! Expect me to copy in the future.
The American History Museum, in my opinion, is WAY better than the Natural one. Fonzie's jacket, Julia Childs' kitchen AND Dorothy's ruby slippers? What's not to love?
My basil also gets discolored when baked. :s I've only seen the NR Philippines episode where ABourdain had the "best pig ever".
International destination? I wish I could go on a trip around the world starting from Greece! :D
